Nine Paintings. Halfway There
Hello again. For those who are able to memorise my emerging arts, that's cool. For those who don't, don't worry. It's been over a year since I've taken up art again from my Abstract Mrs Brinks and the surprisingly acclaimed Black Sheep Banned painting then the rest followed, my artistic movement has been certainly gained momentum. And although there are people who wouldn't normally be as fanatical about art, they certainly become passionate indeed.
As my lifelong passion and skill progressed, I've met artistic people who've helped me push on and an unexpected moment for me popped up about an idea of having my own art exhibition. I'll attach this previous post talking about that.
My Art Exhibition Prospect (tristanthroup.blogspot.com)
From 10 paintings in my portfolio originally to eventually 18 nowadays, it has become a bigger task and not only that, that'll be another part for my bucket list aside doing my future AU Falcon car project.
Last year, I've completed 5 paintings whilst I've lived in a unit in Pakenham at the time. And 3 paintings whilst I'm currently in a sharehouse in Berwick until now which I'll expand in this post.
So after I've completed my sixth painting titled You Will Fail back in February and the month after with Terra Cotta People, I've sketched out this project which'll be titled Just a Shadow. Back in March when I hoped to make a start on the painting, the plan was interrupted when the local arts hub SECAN unveiled the intention of doing an art exhibition towards the end of the year taking words of each progressing month then us members work on any piece of art that represents the words given out.
When the word of the month is courage, I took the opportunity to work on an artwork about courage.
And this is it, I've called the painting A Young Battler and intriguingly, I've done a decent amount of work finding what courage is all about and with the series of sketching which shaped this final result of this painting, it is accomplished. And along with my Terra Cotta People painting, they'll be exhibited at the challenges exhibition which is confirmed on November.
I'll give you a recent post on that which is below to look at or even refresh.
Two Paintings Accomplished And To Be Exhibited (tristanthroup.blogspot.com)
Now, back to the ninth art project. Just a Shadow is my interpretation of a feeling like you don't exist even though you're somewhere. It is sort of a mind set when people don't want to associate with you and you get left in a corner.
Earlier, I faced a dilemma as I was working on my previous paintings in the car port. First, there are various items including a Hyundai i30 SR owned by one of my housemates, next is that the car port isn't entirely weatherproof and finally but less bad is some intrusion from other housemates. However, when I met Sue at an earlier SECAN meeting, she mentioned there's a room at the Noble Park Tennis Club which I can rent.
So with the art project ready to commence in July and 2 months worth of rent paid to the club, I'm all go. Halfway in July, I've packed up all of my art equipment from the sharehouse including the canvas which I've bought which'll be shown below.
And then, I've made the whole trek with all this in the back of my car to the tennis club.
Anyone who would thought going to any sporting club such as the Noble Park Tennis Club to do art might be absurd but it is handy to have a spare room. I've never been a sporty person throughout my life but once I've discovered my other passions and then opened up, that makes me satisfied.
And here is the room where I'll be working on my painting plus further. Sue gave me a tour along with the security codes to gain access. Once all that's out of the way, all of my art equipment is in this room and I've made a start on the ninth painting after being delayed by the recent 2 art projects.
I've started sketching the lines but as you can see unfortunately, it is hard to see but not to worry, I've painted the outlines next.
All this in one day.
So this is in the second day into this project. I then discovered that using this spare room is greatly peaceful and very well away from the hurdles in a sharehouse, I've expressed the thought to Sue about using the room for longer than the 2 months I originally intended, she told me she's welcome for me to do so. In the end, we we're both happy and as long as I'll keep paying the rent from September, all is good.
Next with another layer of colours ranging from black, grey to white, the painting has been seriously taking shape and out of my surprise looking more eerie. With even more stages building up until this month, there is the finished result.
And that's the Just a Shadow painting complete. The ninth painting, halfway into the process of my 18 painting portfolio.
So then, we come to an end and I hope you enjoy my artistic triumphs. See you next time!
