Two Paintings Accomplished And To Be Exhibited
Hello everyone and happy second half of the year. Unless you're living in the southern hemisphere like my case in Australia where it's winter which may indeed sound awkward but on the other hand, it's nice that the first half of 2024 is done and dusted. I've been able to feel more better and being able to persevere with some issues out of the way. Not only I've been able to be more sociable, I'm also carrying on with my art and look to start exhibiting which this post will be all about.
Earlier throughout the SECAN meetings, we were given updates and future ideas as well as given words of the month with the intention for members to make artworks based on each word of the month and then there's the upcoming challenges exhibition towards the end of this year. The words of the month to date include anything beginning with C, precariousness, mushrooms and books, courage, leaves and twigs and our muse. For me although currently visiting but will become a SECAN member to participate, I chose courage and a c word as words of the month.
Before I went ahead with A Young Battler project, there's my previous project Terra Cotta People which I've completed but accidentally discovered it is eligible to be part of the exhibition coming.
For those who've missed out, I've been doing my latest round of art projects in my new portfolio. This is my second painting I've completed since I've moved into a sharehouse and seventh in my new portfolio to date. When I've shown this to other SECAN members, some depicted some precariousness but later, I've decided with a little joint effort to place this Terra Cotta People painting under the C word which'll be crowd.
With that out of the way, I've turned my attention to my next project on courage which is what A Young Battler is all about. I've already mentioned progressions with this project in previous posts which I can provide links below.

Some More Art (tristanthroup.blogspot.com)
In the transition from the end of May to June, I've been making good progress on A Young Battler painting until one windy night in which my painting was blown out of my easel and fell on something.
As this painting had been knocked out, there formed a dent shown above. It was seriously daunting as I hadn't had the problem before. The most fearful thing I'm thinking of is whether the painting is done for but dents and tears can be repairable. For further advice and potentially buying a canvas sheet to use for the repair, I drove with the panting to the Arts Shed in Moorabbin. And then, a very awkward situation came up. I brought the painting to the staff members to find the dent had pretty much fixed itself. Although it was an unnecessary trip, the staff members were impressed with the painting and I enjoyed the drive so it's not all bad.
And with the painting back, it's time to finish it off.
On Thursday the 6th of June, I'm at the second last stage of the project painting the edges black to build up further and to the next Thursday, the completion will be within reach.
And here's the equipment I needed to complete the painting. I also bought a bottle of thinning medium to mix with oil paints to make them thin to be used for more detailed applications such as fine lines. I also have a little tray to pour in a little bit of thinning medium and then use a blob of oil paint you desire.
And with those couple of additions, this Young Battler painting is complete. With that, it was time to wrap up my art projects for the rest of the winter in the sharehouse.
Throughout the rest of June until the start of this month, this painting has been under the wrap until this month's SECAN meeting where I'll get to unveil this painting and then put it into my storage unit.
And here is the painting that has been officially unveiled. I've had the good privilege to showcase it although rather surreal talking about it before I lifted the cover out but it's all good in the end.
And with the unveiling out of the way, it was time to put A Young Battler painting into my storage unit until the challenges exhibition with the Terra Cotta People painting as well. I felt like taking this picture just to show what'll be on offer.
So now, I've got the challenges exhibition covered on my end and with regards to A Young Battler, this is my eighth art project I've done but I've also decided to include that for my grand art exhibition in the future.
There was also this project called Just a Shadow but was pushed aside with A Young Battler but that'll be my next and ninth art project to commence.
But another thing that's different but also artistic is a rather unorthodox project but to be done via a computer.
I came across Hungry Jack's selling their Chicken Fries and one time I got myself one. What's left is this box. After seeing the face, I had a weird idea of utilising this face along with the comb to make a picture out of it.
And combining this cover album from The Black Eyed Peas The Beginning, it'll be a mashup and a piece of juxtaposition.
Using the Adobe Photoshop will be an ideal app to create the whole concoction but I'll look to do so once I'll intend to get a new desktop computer later on to do more things and also allow my laptop computer which I'm currently using into a part retirement.
And that's the end of this post. See you next time!
