My Art Exhibition Prospect

Hello and welcome to another edition to my blog. This time, I'm concentrating on boosting my artistic credentials into the new area I'm currently in. So for anyone getting into my blog for the first time, I got back into art since last year but it's been my life long skill. And that'll be another forte of mine to attract people.

So far and as you can see, these are my 3 paintings I have done.

From the left, my abstract Mrs Brinks painting, next Black Sheep Banned and then How?.

The Mrs Brinks painting has been my starting point and it showcases my extraordinary use of colour. If you're wandering how Mrs Brinks was, she was a character for the Angela Anaconda animation show and she's the teacher in which the main character Angela hates along with another student Nanette Manoir who happened to be the teacher's pet.

With the Black Sheep painting, I wanted to establish my new subject matter in which I raise any issues with society and anything personal. The story behind this painting is there has been an apparent banning of the nursery rhyme Bah Bah Black Sheep. But I've asked myself whether the black sheep is actually racist in any way but that's what I wanted to achieve.

And then there's the How? painting. It's a personal matter of when you're in a bad or uncertain situation, you have no clue on what you wanted to do. Especially when I live with Autism, I don't know a lot of things and then to make things more difficult, I have certain barriers with communication skills and not having much of a circle of support.

But then, there's the day I've driven up to the Dandenong Ranges to the Kapi Art Space where I've organised a time with Heather who's the managing director there. I've shown her the paintings and boy she's impressed. She has come up with suggestions if I'll ever set my own exhibition.

I should have at least 8 artworks and keep them on the same subject matter. And also, coat the paintings with varnish.

So in regards to the paintings to be exhibited, I'll choose the Black Sheep Banned and the How? painting as they're in line with my current subject matter to get people talking about issues to bring up in terms of society and bad personal situations which'll be the big thing in the 21st century. But speaking of that, I felt like adding another painting on my wish list.

This is my Rusting Head painting back 3 years ago. That was also the time when there's the whole Covid pandemic when the world went to lockdown in order to control the spread of the virus. It was a rather upsetting moment when we couldn't do much and doing nothing wouldn't be so good for your mental wellbeing.

When you do nothing, you'll be forgetting things and not thinking at your best. I've made the bust and made the cranium nothing but rusted. This was a simple execution not too fancy or over the top.

On top of that, this leaves 3 paintings to potentially exhibit and I have 5 projects to do. With all this, I've been thinking what I can name and I thought of "Talking Points".

Next is where I can exhibit the paintings and how I'll do so. This'll be another new task I've done but I'm not going to just do it on my own.

Heather is my good starting point and I'll be looking to go visiting the South East Contemporary Arts Network (SECAN) in Berwick later. It's good to meet up with others who have more experience and know how so anything new wouldn't be as daunting.

And that's it for this page. See you next time!
