Life Can Be Worth Living

Hello again and as we're heading towards the end of the year, it'll be good to reflect on what we've been up to. Anything that's gone well and/or hadn't gone so, it'll be worth factoring all this to develop later on to better yourself and even make your own new year's resolution. I have come a long way since I've started my new life in Pakenham with the intention of starting over when my previous lifestyle in Gippsland hadn't panned out.

Despite countless difficulties, I've been able to figure out and become more resilient as well as earning decent amount of respect from various people. There are issues we have no control over but what I like to do is display this picture emphasising what all this is about.

When you look at the couple of people, the person on the left looks miserable looking towards the rocky wall and above, there's the caption that says "Watches the news". The other person looks happy looking at the gorgeous mountainous environment with the caption above saying "Doesn't watch the news". This is a good source of education on life and having the right attitude to carry on when anything in life becomes hard.

I came across this picture on Facebook earlier and I felt that's one valid strategy in life worth looking into. And also, I felt like expanding further with watching the news then feeling miserable. Years back, my sister told me that I was getting sucked in by the media and later on, I believed in her. When we do get bombarded with news stories particularly from the Herald Sun and Sky News, you'll realise how just about all of this journalism is all negative and no feeling of hope or anything that makes anything better. In a way, we could feel sad or even angry. To me, all this doesn't help a bit. But once I step back, I don't feel as bad and being out and about, it can be better in aspects you wouldn't imagine.

But now, back to me. Despite the tough decision to move out of my rental and into a sharehouse in Berwick early this year, my mood has improved later on and it helped having a good refresh. I wasn't wanting to throw away my new lifestyle as I'm renting a storage unit to store my furniture, appliance and my other belongings and later, I've decided to have a plan to move back into another rental and have someone as a housemate. This'll be a good compromise as I wouldn't have a big hassle living with 5 other house mates with completely different personalities and not have as many freedoms to occupy yourself.

Despite that, there have been improvements along the way. A house mate of mine offered me a desk to use my laptop computer and my printer, I've also been cleaning my car, washing and vacuuming the interior and mats. From Monday the 22nd of July, I took on the great task to clean the grotty window in my room at the time. That meant having to move a few items out of the way and then having to contend with a rather broken blind with the single bed causing a tight area but I've completed the task.

If I hadn't done so, the room can be a highly humid haven guaranteed to harbour potential mould growth and having an air purifier helps keep the air nice and healthy. There had been times it ran overdrive which can be seriously annoying picking up harmful air born particles then having troubles sleeping. But with the window clean, the hurdle has been resolved. The only thing that's out of my control when another house mate cooks but leaves excessive amounts of smoke making the air purifier work overdrive when it picks up smoke from someone's cooking.

The air purifier has served it's purpose which I'm happy about.

Outside, I also gave myself a big task of tidying up a yukka garden which is swamped with weeds but trying not to cut myself from the yukkas' sharp leaves.

The end result will greatly be worth it. For the rest of the time until I've moved out, the rest of the house mates made vegetable gardens to grow our own vegetables to be consumed. It's also a nice and satisfying labour of love to grow whatever we consume as opposed to shopping at supermarkets when costs of living has been dominant.

Another thing I've done this year is carrying on with my art. Despite a couple of changes of changes having to work in the carport which isn't too weatherproof and using a spare room at a tennis club, I have completed 5 paintings along with some drawings. With that, I've participated 2 art exhibitions marking another step for me to become a legitimate artist. There are many previous posts regarding progresses on my art which'll be in the main website so after reading this post, it'll be worth going on the main page and scroll down for the previous posts. You'll enjoy them.

My tenth painting is by the way completed.

This is my latest painting titled Lost Souls which resemble people who have given up on life and that'll be another addition to my portfolio and for my future Talking Points art exhibition. The days after will be a good time to take a break and draw a close to using the spare room at the Noble Park Tennis Club which served its purpose. Along with not paying further monthly rent and a rather nightmarish drive along Heatherton Road I drive along to get to the tennis club, these burdens will be out.

Along the line, there are other things in life that can help fuel your creative vibe or even just have fun.

Firstly, what you're seeing is this rhinoceros sculpture made of bits of scrap metal located at a pub in the outskirts of Beaconsfield.

Towards Fathers Day, I came across one of these books on sale at Big W titled you guessed it, Happy Farter's Day. There are some books not excluding Mothers day that you could end up pissing yourself laughing.

Sightseeing in Fountain Gate or any other shopping centre can be an enjoyable experience such as this plush Psyduck with a backpack and a Pikachu cap. Earlier this year when I knocked off earlier at work, I go to Fountain Gate to walk and have a look at whatever the shopping centre has to offer. Another thing I started getting into which offers some enjoyment is playing some Pokemon games and getting into all this.

Pokemon is another part of pop culture people get into. The craze started in the 1990s during the time I started life and growing up with their own trading cards, Gameboy games and their anime TV series.

And this a Pikachu, the most recognised Pokemon in the history of mankind aside from a Charizard. This may look like a yellow funny looking mouse which I initially thought, it's far from it. Playing Pokemon games is a good experience from the process of catching Pokemon using Pokeballs, next battling others increasing levels then evolving to better Pokemon and then working your way attending Pokemon battling tournaments with other Pokemon trainers. This is my basic blurb anyway.

Although I wasn't as big on Pokemon compared to my sister and more accustomed to dinosaurs and other bits of prehistoric life since I was a boy, I've been given a new opportunity this year to play some Pokemon.

From the time my sister gave me her Nintendo Switch along with the Pokemon Shield and Minecraft games, it's been a good addition and a new learning curve.

During the initial time playing Pokemon Shield, I've obtained a Scorbunny such as this one. This may appear to be a cute bunny but don't get too judgmental there. This Pokemon is a capable fighter, a fire type Pokemon to be precise with its flamethrowing, flame charge and quick attacks to include. As I'm casual gamer, it's an experience worth mentioning. Using strategies to attack, heal and whatever you need or want to do is key in order to be a good gamer. There is the biggest problem I know of but it's not to do with the game. The rest of society especially conservative can pose an awkward situation. It can be hard to talk to people on this topic if it appears too nerdy but a moment on Pawn Stars can emphasise this awkward issue. Here's the video below.

Besides Pokemon, there are other things pop culture we like to get into as a way to give yourself a mental escape. In life, things can get boring particularly in some workplaces or you have a job that simply bores you with my case being a stockperson. There are some other things at work you're not into and aren't your cup of tea in any way. Fortunately, I can come up with anything that's enjoyable in my head to help get me through the day.

Such as Tutenstein, this boy mummy. It's worth mentioning anyone with a big imagination and wanting to put their ideas out in books, comics, games, on TV and movies and in any online platform shapes wonders into our society. It seems strange at work bringing up Tutenstein along with a few work colleagues. I came across this character when I was a teenager featuring in his own cartoon show bearing in mind a load of TV shows I've never been big on such as Bluewater High and a batch of soap operas including Veronica Mars, The OC and the notorious Home and Away. Aside from these, I got into Mythbusters and Top Gear and these are pretty much the best kind of TV I watch.

It's also worth mentioning being out for a refresh is a nice and even better idea to opt for. During my residency in Pakenham, I've been to places as a little escape starting with the Wilson Botanical Park Gardens in Berwick along the National Gallery of Victoria which helped reignite my art again and the Swan Street Art Studios also in line.

This year, I've been to Sealife (previously Melbourne Aquarium) after a long time. Their latest addition is their penguin enclosure.

As well as the Royal Cranbourne Botanical Gardens, I've even visited the Melbourne Zoo after a tremendously long time. Here are some photos I've taken.

Starting with the reptile enclosure, there's this chameleon.

And these are the rhinoceros iguanas. I've had a strange shock seeing those and especially that they're around a metre long, grey and blending in with those tree trunks.

As the sun rises further up animals would be more up and about. There are these Tasmanian devils making use of the sunlight.

Along with this Sumatran tiger.

There are 2 siamangs which are monkeys that roam in the South East of Asia but chilling on their shelter in the Melbourne Zoo.

There are loads to see and we should all admire the zoo's efforts to combat extinction of all the animals on the planet but not as much in the butterfly enclosure where my glasses fogged up with high humidity levels. Aside from this, I have taken my own selfie whilst I was here.

One of the things in my life is Melbourne never disappoints and also helped me shape my life further even life changing. Earlier, I had to move out of the sharehouse in Berwick after running into personal difficulties. I currently live with my parents but I'm still not wanting to give up on my lifestyle I have established.

What we should all realise that life isn't entirely hard. There are obstacles along the way but all we can do is work out to better ourselves. It's more fair to say that life is full of ups and downs like I've realised recently. There are things other people should do such as sorting themselves out; attending counselling sessions rather than drink, smoke or take recreational drugs as a coping mechanism, find things out to discover reason why certain things in life are hard, take up hobbies or do anything useful to become a bigger part of a community, build up your employability to get better jobs (full time highly worthwhile) and not rely on gambling for quick money, learn and don't stop learning and don't be afraid to say no to things that could possibly get you into trouble and compromise yourself.

With all this, I earn respect from many people, another life changing moment worth mentioning. Before I close this post up, there's a nice escape not too long ago when I went to an open garden in Nayook. These help expand our minds to do whatever we like if we have houses and so fourth. Enjoy the rest with the pictures and you'll love them.

See you next time!
