Not Finished Yet
Hello again and with winter in the southern hemisphere gathering pace, it's not stopping me carrying on building my life still. Whilst I've been living in my sharehouse coming towards a 6 month period and working twice a week as well as some previous dramas and oddities where I currently live, I won't let that get etched in my head as I still have goals and ambitions. But first, here's something worth showing.
This is a piece from Col. Harland Sanders who originally founded the world-famous KFC. I came about this quotation when I had lunch at the Narre Warren KFC after falling into a hard rut at the time but less of that, more on his background.
In his early life, the Colonel had a handful of jobs in his early life including a steam engine stoker, insurance salesman and service station operator. With a steam engine stoker, it would be such a physical job shoveling loads of coal to make steam engines run back in the days until diesel engine technologies took over. After filling those positions and made the start selling fried chicken at his roadside restaurant in North Corbin, Kentucky during the Great Depression, this spelt the introduction of KFC as we now know today, even when I was growing up.
With his 'secret recipe', him opened his first KFC franchise in South Salt Lake, Utah in 1952 then went about franchising all over America and then expanding even globally, it's been a worldwide success but unfortunate when the expansion was too overwhelming for Colonel Sanders. In the end of the day, he has made a name for himself and made a big contribution to the global economy.
There are other founders who established well-known companies such as Hyundai when the original founder Chung Ju-yung was fed up of working in a family farm in a village of Asan, South Korea whilst poor and extensive hard labour. He eventually came up with services that make businesses in the Asian country better and then getting into cars until the day he started producing cars to today.
Along with other original founders who flourished under tough circumstances, we'll have to admire the courage for those who say fuck that, I'll do something better is an incredible attitude when life is hard. I myself still have that attitude even before I've moved to Pakenham when I officially gave up my Gippsland life for good. Since then and under a load of hard situations, I've been able to pull through and also achieved a load of things with it but I'm still not stopping.
Anyway, I'll start off briefly on what I've been up to from April. From that month, I've contacted the recruitment officer from the Chisholm Skills and Jobs Centre as an additional idea to get into a new job. Applying for jobs myself can be overwhelming so I turned to a service such as the Chisholm Skills and Jobs Centre. He's been willing to help me as he gets in contact with employees for any jobs currently vacant and opening up. He's applied for a few jobs on my behalf but no success.
Next, I called the manager at the Narre Warren Kennard's Hire after I handed out copies of my resume just as a follow up call. When I've asked him about my skills sets, he's happy to mention those which included strong skills in computers, customer service, spare parts and some driving. I also taken up volunteer work at the Red Cross Op Shop in Prahran but although it's in the inner south-east of Melbourne, I treat that as a piece to open a door for potential employment within the city. Of the 2 months I've been volunteering mainly sorting out clothes, the idea has been so far so good. In the meantime, I took a break from applying for new jobs as I'm wanting to focus on building myself up.
In May, I enquired to the RACV branch in Fountain Gate about roadside assistance plans regarding towing. I came up with an idea when I'm still figuring out executing my plan to flip cheap cars advertised in the Facebook Marketplace but becoming more of a mine field. Luckily, a member of the Unique Rides car group came up with that idea.
And thanks to that idea, that's one potential hassle knocked off.
Also in the subject on working on cars, my work colleague Jazmine mentioned before work about having a factory to work on car project. With her case, she currently has a Holden Commodore SS ute which'll be used for drifting. This may sound too big and paying $4,000 AUD a year and taking an awful amount of information, it'll be good to get the plan built up and then be made worthwhile. Even members from the Unique Rides car group are supportive along with my psychologist I've seen and a handful of other Repco employees.
Next, I'll expand on other things that'll make my life goals to fruition. With cars, looking at anything that's cheap and running seems to become rather a mine field as I'm still a mechanical novice.
And this is what it'll look like if you're wanting to tackle this which I'll intend to do. But anyway, we'll take the BMW and go further.
So here's the BMW that's selected. On the right are all the details including the odometer reading and the seller's description along with the photos taken.
And there is the seller's description clearer and where the car is located. The whole idea is to work out what needs fixing and where the car is located. And if it's currently registered or not will be another factor. Any car I'll buy that runs and drives but unregistered will require an unregistered vehicle permit as it'll be illegal to drive an unregistered car. These are some things you'll need to bear in mind to save yourself from potential troubles. It'll also be worthwhile to ask a seller whether the car runs and whatever repairs will be needed. And then, I'll look at similar cars in tip top condition in the Carsales website so you'll get the idea on how much they'll be worth when all the required repairs are done, registered and roadworthy. It'll be worth taking up initiative to have a willingness to negotiate a fairer price with the seller but one strategy that wouldn't be ideal is message other car sellers asking them whether their cars are available but don't want to deal with you as they won't respond to people saying is it available. To me, that's rather rude and can certainly put potential buyers off which you don't want whenever you're selling something. In terms of negotiating, I'll go for a polite way and ask the seller whether you're willing to negotiate. With the other idea of making a cheap offer without looking first-hand wouldn't be too desirable. I can remember when I was selling a lawn mower which I've fixed, a potential buyer offered me $50 AUD which I won't take as it didn't cover the total costs. In a way, it's kind of rude and ignorant as well. The biggest point is we don't know buyers and sellers and particularly working in customer service jobs, it's no brainer to treat customers in a nice way and help them as much as possible to then achieve a sale.
Although I'm currently in a sharehouse, I came up with an idea of going back to a rental from the start of next year with my new plan of attack. I'll pursue a family sized house with a house mate and a 2 car garage with the second space to work on cars. That'll make better sense than me renting a unit in terms of savings, a possible social companion and having extra space to do more.
With work, I've performed other tasks not just scanning new stock items then receding them. I've filled in at the front counter in one shift and made around $2,500 AUD in retail sales. I've been able to take out overstocked brake rotors to fill empty spots on the shelf where other rotors are currently available. Better still with the store I currently work where overstocked brake rotors have been a notorious problem, it's been a blessing that have that change. There are also times I've filled orders for our trade customers when new stock arrives late but never any idea when they'll arrive. At that point, I'm still a worthy employee and with all those capabilities, they shouldn't be laughed at.
I'm still in a big journey with many other things. From April, I've stopped my medication under my psychiatrist's advice after my successful wean off. My upcoming appointment with him will be my last and I'll be looking forward to save more money and building up my savings account again which I'm now doing.
So on the last Friday of May, I treated myself with this meal at Gami Chicken and Beer in Fountain Gate. That's the Gochujang Chicken with Gami chips and a G lager. Sometimes after a lot of work done, you got to treat yourself. But still, there's more work to do.
I'm gradually getting more touch with people as I'm still aiming to break into communities and create new social circles and I'm not giving up on getting a new full-time job. Another plan of attack is to concentrate on some delivery driving under advice from my careers guidance counsellor. I also like to pursue work at JB HIFI still but I'll hold off after tight economic circumstances currently. To emphasise before closing off, I have the attitude to make things happen and people do appreciate and eventually, more people take me seriously which greatly appreciates me.
I'm not willing to get into hopes but guarantees are key to me as I've had unimaginable amounts of disappointments previously and I'm not keen on that anymore. I'll give you an example with a set of lines in Da Kath & Kim Code during the scene when Sharon met Marryat online and then getting married. Here's how it goes.
Kim: What does he do?
Sharon: I don't know.
Kath: Well where is he from?
Sharon: I don't know.
Kim: What does he look like?
Sharon: I don't know.
If you watched this telemovie, you'll know what I mean. But that's it from me. I hope you'll get inspired to take control of your life where you're not happy with where you are. I'll let you now enjoy this song from The Veronicas, Hook Me Up.
And if you're wandering why, Jessica Origliasso wanted the song to be like when you're tired with where you are in life and wanting to get away and out for just some time. Another piece of this whole context.
See you next time!
