What I'm Planning to do
Hello again.
It's been 9 months since I've moved into Pakenham and still getting on top of things. It has been a journey as I started off with not having enough stuff for my house and initial chiropractic appointments starting twice a week which were costing me money but nowadays, I've been better financially. I've been learning a lot over the course of time and therefore getting the hang of anything independent living.
Anyway ever since a couple of months after my move, I had thought up of doing a project car for my bucket list. Yes, it'll cost me a lot of money but I'd still like to pursue it. Along the way, I thought of other things along the horizon like learning to work on cars and making money selling parts as well as flipping cars. And I have people around me who are for the hobby I'll pursue working on cars even staff members at Repco plus others. A friend of mine Claire mentioned I would meet more people with the new skill. There are people who I know and keep in touch who aren't car people but it's great they acknowledge my enthusiasm.
So far, I've been on the path to get on the bandwagon as I've done some mechanical tasks besides cleaning cars. I have done work on my car twice which include replacing the rocker cover gasket and doing an oil change. My car is a 2006 Holden Astra hatchback which has done around 368,000 kilometres (230,000 miles) and it's my second car I've bought 10 years ago. And it still drives now.
Also being a reliable car, it hasn't been needing much work and I thought if I work at Repco with a good staff discount, it'll be a good excuse as well to pursue my project car but I'll stop there and I'll bring you up what project car I like to do.
So this is my concept drawing of my project car which is a Ford Falcon sedan. It'll be the later AU series with the new front end design and 16 inch wheels from the base model to accommodate bigger brakes.
What I'm wanting to do is do a full build up as I'm intending to do a junkyard rescue of one of these cars. I'd like to do a manual swap, repaint with a particular shade of blue called Narooma Blue which was used for my family's Falcon station wagon, reupholster the seats in red leather and get sportier 17 inch alloy wheels to polish up so they look like chrome and some other bits and bobs.
All I got to do now is find a workshop I can use, build up the money buying junk cars then salvaging them and eventually get a Falcon to work on.
Oh, and if you're wandering what Narooma Blue looks like in more depth, I'll attach a sample of a Falcon in this shade of blue.
That's all I have for today. Next up, I'll post some more blurb on the AU Falcon. See you next time!
